What is Women/Hacks?
Women/Hacks 3.0 is a weekend-long all-female-identifying, non-binary, and trans hackathon dedicated to giving womxn of all backgrounds and fields the opportunity to delve into coding within a supportive and inclusive environment.
What is a hackathon?
A hackathon is a weekend-long event in which programmers collaborate in groups of 2-4 to create a project from start to finish. At the end of a hackathon, students showcase their skills and hard work with live demos to present their finished products to their peers and industry professionals.
Who can attend?
Undergraduate and graduate college students, from UCSB and any other schools! Our virtual event is open to students from all over the world.
Do I need to be experienced in coding/programming?
Not at all! Our hackathon is designed to be beginner-friendly, and we offer options for all skill levels.
Do I need to be a Computer Science major?
No! Everyone can attend regardless of degree or experience.
Why should I learn to code?
Coding is an indispensable skill for all fields and careers from STEM to the humanities.
How much does it cost to attend?
It is FREE to attend!
How about housing and transportation?
Since this year’s hackathon will be virtual, we will not have housing or travel reimbursements. Hack from the comfort of your own home!
Who can be a mentor?
Undergraduate students with experience and graduate students.
